A more inspiring view of retirement comes to Braintree
Polly’s Field Retirement Village is currently taking shape in a quiet and pleasant suburb of Braintree overlooking open countryside.
Developed by The Abbeyfield Braintree, Bocking and Felsted Society, this beautifully designed retirement development will consist of 99 thoughtfully planned homes which include 39 one bedroom apartments, and 60 two bedroom apartments. Of these, there will be a mixture of for sale and rent, along with shared ownership opportunities.
Not only will each of the apartments provide wonderfully light, airy and spacious accommodation, they have all been created with thought and care to help make later life easier and more enjoyable for people over the age of 55.
Apartments will be set amidst a range of leisure facilities to help people in later life make more of their independence, and to be as active or relaxed as they want to be whilst enjoying inspiring local countryside views, which include well known local attraction Bocking Windmill.
The village facilities will include a gym, a village hall, an activities room, a hairdressing and beauty salon, a bistro/restaurant and guest room. We also have an assisted bathroom should a little personal help be required.
At Polly’s Field Village residents will have so many opportunities to make the most of life as part of a lively community of like-minded friends and neighbours. In addition, they’ll have the reassurance of knowing that the village’s on-site team is on hand to provide emergency care and support, 24 hours a day 365 days of the year, should it be needed, delivered in the comfort of their own apartment.
The Abbeyfield Braintree, Bocking and Felsted Society is a charity for older people, providing housing across the UK and internationally. Their mission is to enhance the quality of life for older people through high quality accommodation in a stimulating environment to maintain a socially active life.
“Before moving to Abbeyfield in 2009, I lived on my own and suffered ill health and three bad falls. My failing health and security were a constant worry to my son and family who live in Braintree. At Abbeyfield I now have a pleasant flat, new friends, and the safety and security of knowing care and help is on hand when I need it. We enjoy independent living and many activities such as gardening, scrabble, quizzes, cards and tea-time chats. With Abbeyfield the worries of household chores have gone. I live a happy, independent life and have the added joy of seeing my family regularly.”
Work began on the Polly’s Field Village site in October 2019, and the village’s first residents are expected to move in early 2022.
